Everyone's heard of The Million Dollar Homepage - the very first pixel ad site that made a very smart UK student $1M to pay for his university tuition and more. We love this guy because it is truly a great idea.

Our idea is to take the basic premise (pixel ads) and wrap them around a more specific idea (political ads). Even more, how can we give advertisers more bang for their advertising and/or donation buck? So we decided we would donate a portion of every ad to a cause/campaign/etc.

You could donate $100 to a campaign or charity, for example, and have it go into their coffers to use at their discretion. Or, you could buy a $100 Pixelection ad which provides you with a ton of exposure, plus you're still giving money to important causes. In effect, you're giving these causes a lot more value that they would have had normally.
You can buy as many pixels as you like from the available inventory. Your pixel ad displays the image/ad/logo of your choice in the space you have purchased. Plus, you can link your image to a website of your choice (as long as the ad and site have no obscene or offensive content).
The pixel ads you buy will be displayed on the homepage from the time you buy them until three (3) months after Inauguration Day (January 20, 2009). The homepage will not change. This provides you and your cause extremely good value for your ad dollar.

Gearing up for Super Tuesday

Well - the time is upon us to sit back and see what happens on Super Tuesday. With all the Obama $$ in play - and Hillary on the slight decline it's going to be interesting.

Does Romney or McCain get a clear lead this Tuesday? Tuesday will tell.

Not only am I saying it - but so is every other news source...maybe they're right - but I feel it in my bones. I think if Clinton went up against Romney - Clinton victory is assured.

Ummm...look I got them 100% right too! Okay - I'll be better for Super Tuesday coming up and others. I PROMISE. Still the race is a bit undecided, and I have to say - I'm really into the diversity in the mix of wins.

GOP
PixelRed bats 1000 in Michigan primaries

OK, technically "Uncommitted" came in second for the Dems, but we all know those are Obama people since he wasn't on the ballot.

So I got them all right, FINALLY! Too bad Pixel Blue didn't weigh in this time.

On to South Carolina

There has never been a more wide open race

If I've learned one thing from Iowa and NH, its that the media dynamic has changed, which is to say the power of Iowa and NH has been put in its rightful place. The media used to be able to slingshot a candidate to the nomination once they have early wins. This is clearly not the case, the media missed it big time with Obama and Clinton, and they also had McCain killing Romney which also didn't happen. I think that's good news for the Republic - I would love to see both parties go to the conventions w/o a candidate, they way it used to be.

The GOP race has gotten MORE complicated, not less. Romney's gotten a solid 30%+/- in both races, it did not erode between Iowa and NH. That says to me that there is a solid base of people in his camp. And if you look at the delegates (which is really what its all about), Romney's right in the race. It also means that neither Huckabee nor McCain have a mandate from the party yet. Iowa and NH, while important and the big early primaries, are not normal GOP electorates per se. Iowa has an above average percentage of evangelicals, and NH has Independents voting. So you could argue that there hasn't been a pure Republican primary yet - so its hard to say what will happen in that situation. And let us not forget, Giuliani has not fully engaged yet, so that's a wild card.

While not quite as dynamic as the GOP, the Dems are also unpredictable. Who didn't think Obama was going to run the table after Iowa? I don't think Edwards is long for this world, but that's 1 or only 2 predictions that I can make with confidence. The other is to obviously not underestimate Clinton, Inc., especially now that's James Carville and Paul Begalla are back on the team. If anyone knows how to win the bloodsport that is presidential politics, they can.

So what's this all mean? It means there has NEVER been a time where the voter's voice has been more important. It is not politics as usual. Your votes and your voices can and are making a difference. One way to do this is a Pixelection ad. I know its self-serving, but I mean it. You can add to your parties coffers and place an ad for your candidate all in one fell swoop. We have a month until Super Tuesday and 9 months after that until the election. It is extremely important we all stay engaged in the process, and Pixelection is a great way to do that.

Pixelection Launches - Giving People a New, Stronger Voice in the 2008 Presidential Campaign

Innovative website lets voters and advertisers "vote with their dollar" while raising money for candidates and charities.

Boston, MA & Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) January 7, 2008 -- Pixelection, the non-partisan organization dedicated to giving advertisers a greater voice in the political process, today announced the launch of its website, www.pixelection.net , to coincide with the commencement of the 2008 presidential primary season. Pixelection was developed to give advertisers more bang for their advertising buck by providing high exposure for a relatively low cost, and as an added benefit, by donating a portion of every ad buy to a political party or to a worthy charity.

Pixelection is the coupling of two seemingly unrelated ideas. Idea one, that pixel advertising is an interesting and innovative ad platform that has been underutilized. Wrapping the platform around a bigger concept makes the platform much more powerful. Idea two, the frustration around "campaign finance reform" on both sides of the issue.

You could buy a $100 Pixelection ad which provides you with a ton of exposure, plus you're still giving money to important causes. In effect, you're giving these causes a lot more value that they would have had with a single donation.

"No one wants big companies influencing politics to the detriment of the people, nor does anyone want their rights as citizens to donate to, advocate for or otherwise support a candidate to be constrained," noted the Pixelection team. "Thus Pixelection was born - giving the people in the electorate a way to make the most of the situation, allowing them to "vote with their dollar" to give us a new glimpse into the political landscape."

Pixelection has set a goal of raising $100,000 for the parties involved in the election as well as three charities - The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, The National Center for Policy Analysis, and the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation - by donating 20% of all advertising buys. Advertisers will be able to indicate to which party they would like their 20% to be allocated.

"Everyone has heard of The Million Dollar Homepage. Its a really interesting advertising concept, but it can be used for more than just a gimmick," said Pixel Red, a marketing professional. "Pixelection takes the pixel ad premise and wraps it around political advertising, giving individuals and organizations a way to leverage both their voice in the political process and their advertising investment."

Pixels can be purchased in any increments, with a 100 x 100 pixel minimum (any smaller would be impossible to see). Pixelection will display the ad on the homepage from the time it is purchased until three months after Inauguration Day (January 20, 2009). During that time the homepage will not change - providing advertisers extremely good value for their ad dollar.

"You could donate $100 to a campaign or charity, for example, and have it go into their coffers to use at their discretion," noted Pixel Blue, a designer and blogger. "Or, you could buy a $100 Pixelection ad which provides you with a ton of exposure, plus you're still giving money to important causes. In effect, you're giving these causes a lot more value that they would have had with a single donation."

About Pixelection:
Pixelection was started by two friends who were sick of the current state of affairs with "campaign finance reform," and saw an untapped opportunity with the pixel ad format. For privacy reasons they are keeping their names to themselves - preferring to be called Pixel Red and Pixel Blue. As the names imply, they come from different sides of the political spectrum. Look for heated debate and commentary on the Pixelection blog, and visit www.pixelection.net.
